Sacramento County Environmental Management Department’s (EMD)

The Sacramento County Environmental Management Department’s (EMD’s) mission is to protect public health and the environment by ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. EMD consists of two (2) primary divisions: Environmental Health and Environmental Compliance. Our role in assisting EMD consists of providing businesses with permit and compliance assistance, education and training, solid waste consultation, storm water compliance, and recycling opportunities.

Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District’s (AQMD)

The Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District’s (AQMD’s) overall mission is to achieve clean air goals by leading the region in protecting public health and the environment through innovative and effective programs, dedicated staff, community involvement, and public education. Our role in promoting AQMD’s mission is to provide businesses with direct compliance assistance, permitting help, education in understanding AQMD rules, and recordkeeping requirements. AQMD also sponsors BERC’s Sustainable Business Program.​

Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District (Regional San)

The Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District (Regional San) serves its customers by protecting public health and the environment through reliable and safe conveyance, treatment, and disposal of wastewater in the most cost-effective manner possible, now and into the future. Our role in promoting Regional San’s mission includes assisting businesses with permits, mercury reduction program goals, wastewater discharge requirements, pollution prevention, and sewer use questionnaires. Regional San also sponsors our Sustainable Business Program.

Sacramento Metropolitan Utility District’s (SMUD)

The Sacramento Metropolitan Utility District’s (SMUD’s) mission is to provide power and serve a population of 1.4 million people as the nation’s sixth-largest electric utility that’s owned by its customers. SMUD’s Community Advisory Panel supports SMUD’s strategic goals of local economic development, contracting inclusiveness and small business community empowerment. We work with SUMD on business attraction, retention and expansion projects, as well as, small businesses development, loan programs, public utility easements, and energy conservation & rebate programs. SMUD also sponsors our Sustainable Business Program.

Sacramento County Department of Water Resources (DWR)

The Sacramento County Department of Water Resources (DWR) provides drainage, flood control and water supply services to various areas of unincorporated Sacramento County and the Cities of Citrus Heights, Elk Grove and Rancho Cordova. DWR has two (2) primary divisions: Drainage Division and Water Supply Division. Our role in supporting DWR’s mission consists of providing businesses with permit and compliance assistance, education and training, storm water compliance, and water quality standards. DWR also supports our Sustainable Business Program.

Sacramento Department of Airports

The Sacramento Department of Airports is owned and operated by the County of Sacramento as an enterprise operation and is responsible for four area airports. The Department of Airports create​s a superior customer experience through collaboration and continuous improvement with the vision of being Northern California's Gateway to the World. We provide The Department of Airports support by offering their tenants free and confidential regulatory compliance, permitting assistance, education and training. We also work on various Airports’ special projects as needed.​​

Sacramento Regional Solid Waste Authority (SWA)

​The Sacramento Regional Solid Waste Authority (SWA) is a joint powers authority of Sacramento County and the City of Sacramento. The SWA is responsible for the solid waste, recycling and disposal needs in the Sacramento area, and also regulates commercial solid waste collection by franchised haulers through ordinances. Our role in promoting the SWA’s mission includes assisting businesses with recycling opportunities, solid waste reduction goals, pollution prevention, and compliance assistance. The SWA also supports our Sustainable Business Program.

Sacramento County Building Inspection Division (BID)

The Sacramento County Building Inspection Division (BID) division’s mission is to issue building permits and provide plan reviews and field inspections services for all private development building projects within unincorporated areas of Sacramento County. Our role is to assist businesses in identifying permit requirements, and providing mediation services with BPI and other County agencies.​

Sacramento County Planning and Environmental Review Division (PER)

​The Sacramento County Planning and Environmental Review Division (PER) provides land use planning services for the County's unincorporated areas and communities, including processing land use development applications, coordinating with the public on land use issues, overseeing Countywide compliance of land use policies and zoning, growth management, assessing environmental impacts and monitoring mitigation compliance, and protection of the County's natural and agricultural resources.
