The Sacramento Area Sustainable Business of the Year Awards are given to certified sustainable businesses that have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the environment by their on-going business practices which prevent pollution and conserve resources.

Who can nominate a business for a Sustainable Business of the Year Award?

Nominees may be submitted by regulatory agencies, private citizens, professional organizations and businesses.

What makes a Sustainable Business of the Year Award noteworthy or special?

Winners of the Sustainable Business of the Year Award will receive recognition from the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, other elected officials, industry peers, the regulatory community, and the media during a special awards ceremony scheduled to be held annually during National Pollution Prevention  Week in September.

What are the categories for which a business could be nominated?

There are Five (5) Sustainable Business of the Year Award categories:

• Solid Waste Reduction
• Green Building Measures
